SuonareStella X IED
Salvioni Design Solutions, IED Milano and SuonareStella sign a project entirely dedicated to the world of design. The protagonists of this collaboration are seven classes of the Istituto Europeo di Design, seven groups of students who were given the opportunity to interact and measure themselves directly with some of the great players in this sector in a creative journey with several stages.
The initial phase of the initiative saw Salvioni Design Solutions create “White Canvas”, a complete furnishing project in all its parts inside Paolo Stella’s apartment. This first step was aimed at directing the students of IED Milano towards a first important creative line that deals with 360° furnishings, where all the rooms of the house become scenarios where elements can be articulated with each other, giving life to a journey that is not only conceptual, but also sensorial.
Starting from “White Canvas”, the students were asked to create two different furnishing projects for the window of the multi-brand showroom Salvioni Milano Durini and for the home of the influencer Paolo Stella using the furnishings temporarily made available by the partners involved in the initiative: Baxter, Gallotti&Radice, Moroso, Oluce, Roberto Molteni and WallPepper®/Group.
The most deserving proposals will be selected by a jury made up of some representatives of IED Milano, Salvioni Design Solutions, the representatives of the partner brands and Paolo Stella to become real existing installations.
The window of Salvioni Milano Durini will be freely visitable from January to the end of March.
To achieve this ambitious goal, the students of IED Milano will have all the help they need from their teachers, the professionals of Salvioni Design Solutions and the various brands involved, ready to guide them in the difficult choices that underlie the creation of a furnishing project that includes not only furniture, but also lights, wallpapers and textiles.
Right on the eve of this initiative, all the brands and Salvioni held some themed lessons, briefing the students on the more technical aspects of the spaces and the specificities of the individual partners.
The project will be carried out using the wallpapers from the WallPepper®/Group catalogue, from which the students will be able to draw, choosing their favourite theme and style. The most willing students will also be able to create an ad hoc drawing that completes the furnishing choices they have applied. WallPepper®/Group will produce the theme of the winning project, reserving the right to include it in its own catalogue if deemed in line with the company’s creative direction. The student will receive royalties on the product.
Strengthened by these numerous elements, the IED students therefore find themselves confronted with the world of interior design, full of possibilities but also of some obstacles: both Paolo Stella’s house and Salvioni Design Solutions’ windows present numerous constraints to respect, measurements and other parameters that cannot be ignored in order to create perfect furnishings from every point of view. Last but not least, the two projects of the window and the house will have to somehow communicate with each other, giving life to two distinct yet linked realities. How and why, the students themselves will define.
With this project, Salvioni has proposed to combine the world of retail with that of design and above all, to focus attention on the dialogue between education and work, between design and the implementation of a furnishing idea; elements that are often overlooked but that for many, especially students, represent a considerable challenge.
