Zanotta's Reale table takes up and updates one of the most fascinating creations of the eclectic designer Carlo Mollino, originally designed in 1947 for the headquarters of Reale Mutua Assicurazioni in Turin. In the Reale table we find all the complex and fascinating poetics of Mollino, a designer with an unmistakable style who rejected the dictates of Modernism in favor of organic forms and more exciting and complex lines. The very elaborate solid wood base, with slender lines that intersect gracefully, maintains the delicate charm of the skeleton of a delicate nautical model. It can be enhanced by the choice of a transparent glass top, which enhances its intricate design, or it can be topped with a more luxurious oak or marble top.
W.160 x D.80 x H.72 cm

Design and culture: from these two inspirations, Zanotta draws its identity. Browsing the Zanotta catalog is like entering a real design museum full of the key works of some of the biggest protagonists of the furnishings field. Founded in Nova Milanese by Aurelio Zanotta in the ‘50s, the company inextricably links its name to the avant-garde design season, from which innovative furnishings are born, often enriched by an ironic touch. To these timeless masterpieces, Zanotta flanks reissues of classics from the first half of the twentieth century and a contemporary collection inspired by great lightness and quality.Read more
Designed by
Carlo Mollino
Carlo Mollino (1905-1973) was one of the most eccentric and peculiar figures of Italian architectural design in the twentieth century. Born, lived and died in Turin, son of an important engineer, Mollino was many things at the same time: dandy and grand viveur, skilled skier (a discipline he taught and on which he wrote a famous manual), passionate car driver (in the 1950s he raced the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans on a car designed and engineered by himself) and acrobatic airplanes, refined photographer (often with an erotic theme). But he was above all an architect, and he was in his own way, pursuing an extreme and baroque style that earned him as many admirers as he was detractors. Among his most famous works were the Teatro Regio in Turin and Casa Garelli in Champoluc. However, what remains of him most are his furnishings, with bold and sinuous curves, often inspired by the shapes of the female body, heirs of the suggestions of Surrealism and in turn prefiguring the trend towards Biomorphism that will take root in international design starting from the years '50. Behind the dreamlike or mobile appearance of Mollino hide a rigorous engineering precision, recovered with the utmost philological scruple from the reissues that Zanotta has been offering exclusively since 1982.Read more
