Vitra
Panton Chair
Classic – Glossy
Price € 1.640,00
A design classic, historical icon of Verner Panton who in 1960 outlined the figure then developed for series production by Vitra. In 1967, the year of effective diffusion on the world market, its undisputed success consecrated it to the absolute protagonist of that time. The result of the combination of a cantilevered structure and anthropomorphic design outlined to follow the anatomy of the body, the Panton Chair was the first to be made entirely from a single sheet of mass-dyed polypropylene. Among the many colors and finishes available, the iconic white stands out, able to best enhance the soft and supple figure. The Panton Chair is stackable up to five elements, as well as suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.

Swiss by birth, Vitra is a unique company in many ways. Unique in its home collections, light and colorful; unique in its office furnishings, which combine in a masterful implementation design and ergonomics; unique for the designer parterre that enriches its catalog. Among prestigious historical re-enactments and fruitful collaborations, Vitra has always had the ability to relive the past and project to the future. However, Vitra is unique above all for Rolf Fehlbaum's corporate address, where the company transcends the business to fulfill wider social and cultural functions: the creation of a unique project such as Vitra Campus and the annexed Vitra Design Museum is an example.Read more
Designed by
Verner Panton
Verner Panton (1926-1998) has long been considered the enfant terrible of Danish design. His creations, visionary and colorful, have made the most of the characteristics of new materials such as plastic and polyurethane and have led the world of Scandinavian design into the future. Panton contributed more than any other designer to the constitution of Space Age design between the 1960s and 1970s. His creations, with bright colors and visionary shapes, are so iconic that they are still very current today. After starting his career as Arne Jacobsen's assistant, Panton toured Europe in his Volkswagen Transporter van and then settled in Basel. There began a long and fruitful collaboration with Vitra which resulted in several undisputed masterpieces such as the immortal Panton Chair, the first plastic chair in history made in a single piece. He also worked extensively with Louis Poulsen, the most important Danish brand in the lighting sector, and his creations also appear in the catalogs of brands such as & Tradition and Georg Jensen. His avant-garde installations were also famous, such as the surprising Visiona 2 created for Bayer at the Cologne Motor Show, or his as many futuristic interior projects, such as the headquarters of the newspaper Der Spiegel in Hamburg. After his death, the Verpan brand was founded in Denmark, dedicated to the reissues of some of his most famous creations.Read more
