Tom Dixon can be considered a leading company in the production of light fixtures. Since its foundation, it has been able to create wonderful objects, designed to fill the rooms of the house with the particular creative power that only light can have. Among the numerous works by Tom Dixon we mention Void, a suspension lamp inspired by the metallic colors of the Olympic medals. Void is a luminous object born to explore the sculptural beauty of a reflective metal form. The bulb is opaque and hidden inside the lampshade and therefore illuminates without being visible, thus representing a mysterious light source that can be placed in different rooms of the house.

Tom Dixon (1959-) is one of the most famous and appreciated contemporary British designers. Born in Tunisia and moved to the UK at an early age, he did a variety of jobs in his youth, from nightclub promoter to bassist in a punk band. Passionate about motorcycles, he learned the techniques of welding in order to carry out the repairs himself, and from there he became interested in Ron Arad's design experiments with metal, which brought him closer to the London underground art and design circles. Like Arad, his first works centered around the use of metallic materials and were based on a post-industrial and recycled aesthetic. At the beginning of the 90s he was noticed by Giulio Cappellini, who gave him the opportunity to compete with series production and make himself known by the great international audience. Since 1998 he has been called to the management of Habitat, the largest English furniture chain, and promotes a radical renewal of the brand's image. Starting from 2002 he decided to go on his own to be able to convey his aesthetics without compromise, founding and leading to success a brand that bears his name - Tom Dixon Ltd. - mainly dedicated to the production of lamps and objects.Read more
