Sancarlo Armchair
Price starting from € 2.916,00*
*Price valid for the version with upholstery in fabric cat. B and frame in black varnished metal (cod. OSAN62).
With highly experimental features, the Sancarlo armchair by Achille Castiglioni reissued by Tacchini has a seat and a backrest divided into four different cushions with comfortable and wide padding that contrast with the thin line of the metal structure to which they are fixed, which is composed of two long curved frames that run along the entire perimeter of the armchair, also composing the legs and armrests. Originally designed for Driade in 1982, Sancarlo is also a form of ironic self-citation for Castiglioni: in fact, it partly takes up the silhouette of his historic Sanluca armchair (now re-proposed by Poltrona Frau), of which it is in fact an avant-garde version stripped down and reduced. to the essential elements.

Designed by
Achille Castiglioni
Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002) was one of the most important and celebrated masters of Italian design of the twentieth century. With a playful and curious temperament, he has also brought these characteristics into his creations, always full of brilliant intuitions resulting from a strong ability to observe the behavior of people and their relationship with objects. Son of the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni, he worked for the entire first part of his career alongside his brother Pier Giacomo (1913-1968), with whom he co-signed all his creations until the latter's death in 1968. Among his associations more fortunate were those with Flos, a company with which he collaborated since the foundation and with which he revolutionized the concept of domestic lighting, with Zanotta, who supported him in his most daring experiments, with De Padova, with whom he carried out many projects in recent years. of his life, and with Alessi. He has won the Compasso d'Oro eight times.Read more
