The Lina armchair by Gianfranco Frattini is one of the forgotten little pearls of Italian design to which Tacchini has given new light in its collection dedicated to the classics. It is one of the first products designed in his career by Frattini, who put it into production for Cassina in 1955 under the name Model 831. Its charm, typically Mid-Century taste, is ensured in particular by the characteristic wooden structure. which gives it a solid and light appearance at the same time with thin trestle legs and wide armrests fixed to an element that extends on both sides of the back cushion. The many visible screws compose a sort of decorative counterpoint, while the seat and backrest disassembled and separated by a small space avoid any risk of formal heaviness.

Gianfranco Frattini
Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004), architect and designer, was part of the "golden generation" that between the 1950s and 1960s led Italian design to establish itself as a protagonist on the world stage. Paduan by birth, he studied at the Milan Polytechnic and he worked all his life in the city of Milan, first as a collaborator in Gio Ponti's studio and then on his own, dedicating himself above all to interior architecture and product design. Very active in the associative and dissemination fields, he was a founding member of ADI and he was a member of the Triennale Council for many years. Among his many collaborations, those with Cassina, Artemide, Arteluce, Bernini and Acerbis are worthy of note. A great lover of wood, he also forged a solid partnership with the celebrated cabinetmaker from Brianza Pierluigi Ghianda. In recent years, the revival of the Mid-Century style has led to a renewed interest in his figure with highly successful reissues of some of the most famous products offered by brands such as Tacchini and Poltrona Frau.Read more
