Identity and perfection have always been the cornerstones of the Molteni&C company, number one in the production of high-end furniture. Among the many proposals for the living area and kitchen space, Blevio stands out, a table by Ignazio Gardella which is part of the Molteni&C Heritage Collection. Winner of the Wallpaper design Awards 2023, this table was originally created in 1930 as a single example for the designer's residence, Villa Usuelli in Blevio, on Lake Como. Its harmonious forms were taken up by Molteni&C to become collective heritage today. It is characterized by the presence of a rectangular and elongated surface concluded at the ends by two particularly soft semicircles which are in turn supported by two elements with a hollow cylindrical section. The result is particularly delicate, ideal for those who wish to enrich the spaces of their home with a characterizing and gentle element at the same time.

Collaborations with renowned international designers and technological innovation made Molteni&C. a benchmark for the whole furnishings industry. The history of the company began in 1934 when in Giussano the "Arredamenti Angelo Molteni" was founded, a small artisan workshop specialized in the production of furniture.
In the ‘40s, the company became one of the national furniture production leaders, with an exponential growth that brought the company to hire more than 60 employees, recruited among the best artisan workers.Read more

Ignazio Gardella
Ignazio Gardella (1905-1999) was one of the great Italian architects of the twentieth century. A versatile and impeccable professional, he has often played the role of liaison between field practice and academic theory, carried forward in almost thirty years of academic teaching at the IUAV in Venice. He began his career in the 1930s by inscribing himself in the current of Italian Rationalism, with iconic creations such as the anti-tubercular clinic in Alessandria. Gradually his design language becomes richer and is also linked to the experiences of Lombard neoclassicism, allowing him in the post-war period to give life to works such as the Olivetti canteen in Ivrea, the PAC in Milan (which he would later reconstruct exactly as it was in the 90, after it was destroyed in a mafia attack) or the Casa delle Zattere in Venice, his most celebrated but also the most discussed work. His contribution to the world of design passed through Azucena, which he founded in 1947 together with Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Corrado Corradi Dell'Acqua with the aim of putting their furniture into production. Some of his furnishings are now re-proposed by Molteni & C., MisuraEmme and Santa&Cole, while his lamps are re-edited by Tato Italia.
