A lamp that has been able to embody the aesthetic sense of Martinelli Luce in furnishing the house with lamps and various lighting solutions suitable for a refined public with high quality standards. Cyborg is a lamp designed by Karim Rashid using a colorful and shiny texture that makes it instantly modern for the indoor version. In the outdoor version it is made of concrete to better resist the most difficult weather conditions, even in the case of particularly troublesome climates. With over seventy years of activity behind him, Martinelli Luce stands out as one of the great names in the history of design lighting in Italy. His fortunes are closely linked to those of the founder, the indefatigable Elio Martinelli, who personally designed many of the products in the catalog, including the famous Cobra and Serpente lamps. With simple and avant-garde shapes, inspired by nature or suggested by the application of new technologies, Martinelli lamps appear in the permanent collections of many design museums. The most famous is the Pipistrello lamp by Gae Aulenti, a timeless icon.Read more
Designed by
Karim Rashid
Karim Rashid (1960-) is one of the great contemporary design stars. Eclectic figure, great communicator and unmistakable character, prolific creator, he boasts of having created over 4,000 projects in the most diverse fields, from furniture to lighting and everyday objects. Rashid has also managed to impose on the market a bold and provocative, made of bright colours and bold rounded shapes, capable of playing with irony on the edge of kitsch. Born in Egypt, he grew up and completed his studies in Canada, and then spent a fruitful period in Italy where he worked in Rodolfo Bonetto's studio. In 1993 he opened a studio in New York and began to collaborate with important American companies aimed at the general public such as Ubra or Target, with the mission of making products accessible to all in line with the latest design trends. However, this does not prevent him from setting up collaborations with even more elite realities: a great fashion lover, he has worked for Armani, Kenzo and Tommy Hilfiger. Many of his products are present in the catalogues of Italian brands such as Casamania, Artemide, B-Line, Gufram, FontanaArte, Martinelli Luce, Riva 1920, Talenti and many others.Read more
