Alain Gilles
Alain Gilles (1970-) is a highly regarded Belgian designer. Design was not his first vocation: his university studies originally focused on the sector of Political Science, a discipline in which he graduated in Brussels and which was followed by a career that lasted a few years in the financial sector until the decision to change his life and move to France where he obtained a second degree at the Institut Supérieur de Design of Valenciennes, this time following his passion for Industrial Design. In 2007 he founded his own studio, after a few years of collaboration with his compatriot Xavier Lust, and was able to begin a series of fruitful partnerships with some important international design brands. The most important and fruitful are those with the Belgian office brand BuzziSpace and the Italian Bonaldo, both brands for which it soon becomes one of the leading brands. Winning the title of designer of the year in 2012 at the Interieur Kortrijk Fair opened the door to numerous new collaborations, including those with brands such as Ligne Roset, Varaschin, Miniforms, XL Boom, Saba Italia, Vicent Sheppard, La Chanche and many others.
