From the imaginative genius of the Kristiina Lassus brand comes Aava, a rug with an apperently simple design that, nevertheless, conceals a considerable creative force. Aava combines a neutral background, available in different colours, including dark mocha and natural white, with a sequence of stylistic signs that are both rigorous and random at the same time, capable of creating a true pattern of chiaroscuro. The overlapping of levels also occurs thanks to the use of variuos colours, which stand out and emerge from the background, creating a precious play of lights. The yarn is composed of wool and silk, with embossed silk decoration. The ensemble fits perfectly into any environment, modern or otherwise, always offering a suggestion that is difficult to replicate.

The refined luxury of Kristiina Lassus carpets is the result of a unique crossroads of cultures and traditions, embodied to perfection by the eponymous Finnish designer and entrepreneur settled in Italy, who brought with her the celebrated Scandinavian attention to natural harmonies, blending it with the chic taste typical of Italian design. The original mix is then completed in faraway Nepal, where all Tibetan wool, bamboo silk, hemp, nettle, linen and silk rugs are woven entirely by hand according to ancient traditional techniques.Read more

Kristiina Lassus (1966-) is a Finnish designer active mainly in the carpet sector through the brand of the same name. After studying in Helsinki and Stockholm she moved to Italy in 1997 and made Milan the base of your activities. Her carpets are the result of a delicate sensitivity capable of blending Nordic minimalism with refined oriental suggestions. Above all, the charm of naturalistic inspirations dominates, inherent in neutral colored textures that communicate a sense of peace and serenity. In addition to her own carpet brands, Kristiina Lassus has also designed products in the past for brands such as Alessi, Zanotta and Poltronova, as well as covering the role of Design Coordinator for the Finnish brand Artek in her youth (from 1994 to 1997). She has been awarded the Red Dot Design Award twice (2008, 2010).
