Since its creation in 1957, the Tulip chair by Knoll has become one of the most recognizable and well-known pieces of the company, a sort of backbone capable of defining many of its stylistic peculiarities in the common imagination. Originally designed by Eero Saarinen to solve the onerous problem of the four legs of tables and legs, the entire Saarinen collection rests on a single, beautifully modeled support whose elegance does not fear the passage of time. Available in numerous variants with or without armrests, as well as various conformations of the shell and cushion, Tulip is still today a versatile piece of furniture, which can be placed in the living room or in the most convivial area of the house. Among the numerous versions, Tulip also offers the possibility to choose between fixed and swivel.

Today, Knoll is not only a company of re-selling historic furnishings of great artistic value, but continues to innovate by offering creations of the major international design brands both in the home area and in the office furnitures sector.Read more

Eero Saarinen
Eero Saarinen (1910-1961), an American architect and designer of Finnish origins, left a fundamental impetus for the development of Modernism, combining the use of new materials with organic forms rich in curves, with a strong sculptural impact. Son of the famous architect Eliel Saarinen, he grew up in an environment permeated by a passion for design and studied sculpture in Paris and architecture at Yale. He was a close friend of Charles Eames, with whom he won first prize in the "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition, and of Florence Knoll, who was his father's favorite pupil. And it was the Florence-based company, Knoll International, that put into production all the most famous creations by Eero Saarinen, still among the brand's great bestsellers. Among his most famous buildings, Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy airport in New York and the Gateway Arch, a symbolic monument of the city of St. Louis.Read more
