The name of the Uovo table lamp by Fontana Arte immediately describes its archetypal ovoid, harmonic and balanced shape. Faithful to the natural model, the shapes traced by the hand of the Dutch designer Ben Swildens bring together symmetries and asymmetries in balance. In Uovo the light source is hidden by a white frosted blown glass shell and the light has an enveloping and warm tone. It is available in three different sizes, which also differ in function: if the smallest can for example be used as a practical bedside lamp, the larger version is instead proposed as an imposing piece with sculptural values capable of decorating an entire room on its own. Uovo has been one of Fontana Arte's great bestsellers for decades: its original design dates back to 1972.

One of the most influential representatives of the made in Italy lighting design, FontanaArte has its roots in the nineteenth century with the foundation of a glass factory in Milan by the entrepreneur Luigi Fontana. The real brand was born from the meeting between the latter and Giò Ponti, the first artistic director, leaving an indelible mark on the style of the company, so much that his creations still play a central role in the FontanaArte catalog. Glass and crystal gave the brand an immediate international success since the early years, thanks also to the collaboration with the master glassmaker Pietro Chiesa.Read more
