Fontana Arte
Luminator Floor Lamp
Price € 2.500,00
The Luminator floor lamp by Fontana Arte has almost a century of history: it was in fact originally designed by Pietro Chiesa in 1932. The term "Luminator" indicated a kind of floor lamp very widespread in those years, in which light was projected against the ceiling and then refract from there and diffuse into the environment. In the large Luminator chain of Italian design - from the original Bernocchi one designed by Luciano Baldessarri and presented at the 1932 Expo to that of the Castiglioni brothers for Flos in the 1950s - the version of Fontana Arte carves out a prominent role, thanks to the balanced simplicity of the forms and to the measured decorative values. In the Luminator by Pietro Chiesa the long stem opens delicately into a cone in its final part, with the metal coating that covers it in all its parts, hiding the light source from view.

One of the most influential representatives of the made in Italy lighting design, FontanaArte has its roots in the nineteenth century with the foundation of a glass factory in Milan by the entrepreneur Luigi Fontana. The real brand was born from the meeting between the latter and Giò Ponti, the first artistic director, leaving an indelible mark on the style of the company, so much that his creations still play a central role in the FontanaArte catalog. Glass and crystal gave the brand an immediate international success since the early years, thanks also to the collaboration with the master glassmaker Pietro Chiesa.Read more
