Light and essential, between 1930s Italian rationalism and fresh Scandinavian inspiration, the Scrittarello desk designed for De Padova by Achille Castiglioni is somewhat reminiscent of traditional school desks. It is equipped with two comfortable side shelves placed on the two sides under the top, useful for having other practical support points. The base, made up of two pairs of thin wood crossed with visible screws and joints, is also equipped with a functional footrest crossbar. Designed in 1996, Scrittarello is one of the happiest creations of the last part of the career of a great master such as Castiglioni was.

An unmistakable form of discreet luxury, in line with the character of the city, which finds its basis in the rigor of the design quality and in the use of fine materials. De Padova furniture and sofas bear the mark of a history of over seventy years and the personality of its brilliant founder, Maddalena De Padova, defined as the "lady of design".Read more

Achille Castiglioni
Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002) was one of the most important and celebrated masters of Italian design of the twentieth century. With a playful and curious temperament, he has also brought these characteristics into his creations, always full of brilliant intuitions resulting from a strong ability to observe the behavior of people and their relationship with objects. Son of the sculptor Giannino Castiglioni, he worked for the entire first part of his career alongside his brother Pier Giacomo (1913-1968), with whom he co-signed all his creations until the latter's death in 1968. Among his associations more fortunate were those with Flos, a company with which he collaborated since the foundation and with which he revolutionized the concept of domestic lighting, with Zanotta, who supported him in his most daring experiments, with De Padova, with whom he carried out many projects in recent years. of his life, and with Alessi. He has won the Compasso d'Oro eight times.Read more
