Designed by
Konstantin Grcic
Kontsantin Grcic (1965-) is one of the leading names in contemporary German design. Born in Munich, he studied cabinet-making and design in London and there he had his first professional experiences in Jasper Morrison's studio, coming to design his first furniture for the SCP brand. From Morrison he developed a certain passion for minimalism, which he often accompanied however with daring and ingenious creative solutions and a keen interest in complex and challenging projects from an industrial point of view. On his return to Munich he founded his own studio and inaugurated a fruitful collaboration with the ClassiCon brand, which is based in the same city and which launched him in the firmament of the great names of international design. The consecration, however, arrives between the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s and it is sealed by two icons that have already become true classics and entered the permanent collections of all the most important design museums: the Mayday lamp, designed for Flos, and the Chair One chair, designed for Magis. In addition to the victory of two Compassi d'Oro (2001 and 2011) and the nomination of Designer of the Year for Design Miami (2010) and for the Salone del Mobile in Milan (2016), Grcic can also boast collaborations with important brands such as Agape, Vitra, Cassina, Plank, Mutina, Driade, BD Barcelona Design and many others.Read more
