Cassina
Les Grands Trans-Parents Mirror
Price € 1.830,00
Designed by the histrionic Man Ray whose great passions led him to distinguish himself as a painter, photographer and film-maker at the same time, the mirror Les Grands Transparents manages, like many other works by his creator, to express a radical reference to the Dadaism and Surrealism of the time applied to design of object. The luck of this mirror consists mainly in having associated an extremely original element with the classic shape of the elliptical mirror, that is, an intertwining of words printed on the surface. Les Grands Transparents was produced in series starting from 1971 within Simon's Ultramobile collection and then re-proposed in Cassina's Simon collection. A unique idea, able to amaze and fascinate anyone who wishes to go beyond the conventional.

Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more

Man Ray
Man Ray (1890-1976) was an American artist and photographer, one of the greatest exponents of Dadaism. A multifaceted and difficult to classify figure, after his youth in Philadelphia he moved to Paris in 1921, following his great friend Marcel Duchamp, and there he lived fully in the fervid undergrowth of the avant-gardes where he developed innovative photographic techniques such as rayography, which consisted of exhibit the objects directly in contact with the photosensitive material, as well as giving life to iconic and enigmatic works such as "The violin of Ingres" and "Tears of glass". He later joined Surrealism, also making experimental short films and art objects. Some of the movement's best-known models such as Kiki de Montparnasse, his longtime lover, and Meret Oppenheim posed for him. A few years before his death he met Dino Gavina, who made him one of the protagonists of the famous Ultramobile collection created for the Simon brand (now merged into the Cassina catalog).
