The Cornaro armchair represents an interesting and courageous mix of modern design and 1970s references. A real gamble that Cassina wanted to make by introducing a sculptural wooden structure where the padding is literally set inside, giving life to a compact and highly recognizable shape. The research carried out by Cassina also includes extremely varied coverings for the structure that presents itself as a celebration of pop-art and a style that is not afraid to dare. Available in different colors and finishes, Cornaro is an armchair designed to live in living spaces of great strength and aesthetic complexity.

Founded in 1927 by the brothers Cesare and Umberto in the heart of Brianza furniture, Cassina is one of the long-lived Made in Italy industrial design companies. From the early ‘30s, Cassina brothers identified the strong demand for home furnishings and interpreted in a far-sighted way the renewed taste of the new emerging classes. From this intuition, Cassina started a real revolution in the indoor furnishings design. Since then, the company has been pursuing a path of research and innovation, involving prestigious designers and architects in the study of new furnishings models. In the last few years the collaboration with Gio Ponti has begun. Thanks to this partnership were born the 646 chair, known as Leggera, and the subsequent model 699 or Superleggera.Read more

Linked to art - glass art, of which Venice is the Italian capital - is also his first prestigious position in the world of design, the artistic direction of Venini, a role he held between 1933 and 1947 and through which he brought modernity the centennial tradition of Murano glass. He was a master of restoration (including that of the Ca 'Foscari University of Venice, which was completed when he was only thirty years old), his most famous architectural project dates back to the postwar period: the famous Olivetti shop in Piazza San Marco, a small jewel of harmony and proportions. It was in those years that he met Dino Gavina, a visionary entrepreneur, for whose brand Simon (now part of the Cassina catalog) will create all his most famous furnishings.Read more
