Athos ‘12 Dining Table
A table of great rigor and simplicity, capable with its soft lines to enrich living and dining spaces with a firm and extremely recognizable touch. The beauty of Athos lies mainly in the delicate union of the steel support structure with the top panel made of wood particles with solid wood parts, modeled at the sides to obtain a softer and more elegant design. No less interesting is the mechanism present in the extendable version, capable of expanding the structure to accommodate up to twelve people. The V-shaped metal structure supports the thicknesses of the top softened by the rounded edges in turn obtained with a complex milling process.
Fixed version W.250 x D.100 x H.73 cm
Available also in W.200 cm and in extendable version

B&B Italia's strongest ability is to combine creative ideas with design skills, which over the years have led the company to win four Golden Compasses. B&B Italia’s fulcrum is the Research and Development Centre (CR&S), a research laboratory dedicated to the study of the most innovative materials and the industrialization of production processes. The purpose of CR&S is to give life to the most groundbreaking projects of some of the major international designers.
Founded in the late 60's by Piero Ambrogio Busnelli and Cesare Cassina with the name of C&B Italia, the company has disrupted the furnishing industry's rules with a revolutionary industry vision. The ability to turn traditional furnishings production into industrial designs proves today, like yesterday, the strength of the company.Read more
Designed by
Paolo Piva
Paolo Piva (1950-2017) occupies a singular and fascinating position in the history of Italian architecture and design. He divided his heart between two cities: Venice, where he trained while studying under Carlo Scarpa, and Vienna, where he taught for many years at the Akademie für angewandten Kunst. Deeply imbued with humanist culture, the passion for Austrian architecture accompanied him throughout his life, starting with his degree thesis which was supervised by the great critic Manfredo Tafuri, and also guided him in the curation of various exhibitions throughout Italy like the one on the "Vienna Rossa" sponsored by the Municipality of Rome in 1980. Piva, however, has not remained confined to the academic field alone: apart from the 1980s, he has collaborated extensively with B&B Italia in the creation of highly commercially successful furnishings, often characterized by an ingenious use of the movement of the various parts. Other important partnerships were those with the Italian Poliform, the Austrians Wittmann and the Swiss De Sede. Also prolific as an architect, he has signed the Embassy of Kuwait in Qatar and many projects in the retail sector, including the Inverigo showroom of Salvioni Design Solutions.
