Baxter
Brasilia Outdoor Coffee Table
Brasilia is a collection of outdoor tables designed by Paola Navone for Baxter. The choice of materials used is surprising, as it involves the use of concrete conceived as a ductile element to be shaped and modelled until it gives it a monolithic and ironic form, perfectly integrated into the context of the garden where each element of the collection is expected to be placed. The structure is for obvious reasons resistant to both use and atmospheric agents, an ideal characteristic for any outdoor furniture. The top is hand-trowelled in grey or beige and has numerous signs of surface porosity unique to each piece that make the whole more interesting and alive.

Symbol of Italian excellence, Baxter was born in 1990 in the heart of the Brianza furniture-manufacturing district. The family-run company developed its potential in Lurago d'Erba, where the ancient artisan tradition meets the highly specialized local crafts. The Brand maintained a focus on the quality of the materials used, searching for absolute excellence in order to propose design products with a strong emotional impact for aesthetics, shape and function. The absolute protagonist of Baxter's production is saddle leather, symbol of high quality leather, coming from the historic tannery of Toscana and Veneto.Read more
Designed by
Paola Navone
Paola Navone (1950-) was trained in the effervescent world of experimental design of the 1970s, training in the Alchimia Studio and collaborating with some of its greatest exponents, including Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass. From these experiences you have drawn an approach to design devoid of dogma and alien to the dictatorship of formalism, to which you later added your strong passion for ethnic influences drawn from all over the world. In this way, she created her peculiar design without borders, with influences ranging from the Provencal shabby to the African artisan traditions, in an original and highly personal mix expressed in her first experiences with Abet Laminati and with the artistic direction of the Cappellini World line. Among her more successful collaborations are those with Gervasoni, of which she has been artistic director since 1998, and with Baxter, in which she declines her characteristic style in a more precious guise. Among the many brands you have worked with, we remember Casamilano, Driade, Ethimo, FontanaArte, Riva1920 and Molteni & C.Read more
