Artemide
Alfa Table Lamp
Price € 1.170,00
Alfa is born from the design of Sergio Mazza, an extremely elegant lamp capable of summarizing a refined and extremely simple design in a single solution. Since 1959 it has become a real icon of furniture design, populating living rooms and environments all over the world. The use of marble and crystal blend here with the hand turning of the matt nickel-plated metal parts. The crystal bell diffuser can measure a good 30 cm in diameter. The contrast between horizontal and vertical, subtle and voluminous, make the entire model a feast for the eyes. The light that propagates from the diffuser is dimmable and calibrated so as to never be excessive for the eyes.
Ø 30 x H.48 cm

Artemide is one of the most prestigious names of the Italian design: the company has in fact left an indelible impact on the lighting sector. Artemide lamps are often courageous and experimental, but also incredibly practical. The philosophy of Artemide follows the principle of the "Human Light", according to which every lighting project must focus on the human being and his needs. Another peculiarity of the brand is the incessant tendency to innovation, so much that over 60 people are employed in its own Research & Development center.Read more
Designed by
Sergio Mazza
Sergio Mazza (1931-), Italian architect and designer, had an important role both in the industrial history of Italian design and in that of its intellectual dissemination. In fact, his first role sees him as founder of the Artemide company in 1959, in partnership with his friend, the aeronautical engineer Ernesto Gismondi, who would later become his hegemonic figure from a management point of view. Mazza designed many of the first lamps produced by Artemide and accompanied the company in the first experiments on the nascent plastic furniture market. In 1961 he founded the SMC Architettura studio together with Giuliana Gramigna (1929-2016), on whom he would have worked all his life. In addition to Artemide, the two designed lamps for Quattrifolio, furniture for Cinova and handles for Olivari, but they linked their name above all to a great publishing initiative: in 1966 they founded and directed the magazine Ottagono, one of the important publications in the world of furniture and design. Ottagono will be awarded by ADI with the Compasso d'Oro in 1979, Mazza and Gramigna directed it for over twenty years, until 1988.
