The Alterego sideboard by Acerbis is the expression of a futuristic design, capable of playing with volumes to give life to unexpected, one-of-a-kind shapes. Its creator, Giacomo Moor, has been able to design starting from an exquisitely artisanal vision capable of creating a partnership between wood essences and hand-brushed metal effect finishes. The base of Alterego is in transparent methacrylate to give a suspension effect to the full-height sliding door. The visual difference between the main body made up of two doors with hinged opening and a sliding panel is underlined by the use of often contrasting materials or finishes.

Designed by
Giacomo Moor
The Italian designer Giacomo Moor (1981-) follows an original path of stylistic research in which design moves hand in hand with the practices and suggestions typical of traditional carpentry. His training began at a very young age in the workshop, when he had the opportunity to work alongside a master carpenter in parallel with his theoretical studies at the Milan Polytechnic under the aegis of the architect Beppe Finessi, one of the greatest “maître à penser” of contemporary Italian design. His studio, founded in Milan in 2011 together with his partner Aurelie Callegari, immediately took on the form of a real laboratory, frequented by designers as well as artisans and carpenters. His creations are infused with an almost Calvinist rigor, with austere and squared shapes in which the precision of the geometries is transformed into an elegant and almost hypnotic gesture. 2016 is the year of his definitive consecration: he is awarded the title of “Young Designer of the Year” by both the Salone del Mobile and the Elle Decor International Design Awards. In the same year he launches his first products intended for mass production with Acerbis, which will be followed over the years by collaborations with prestigious brands such as SEM – Spotti Edizioni Milano, Desalto and Living Divani alongside limited series creations made for some of the most famous galleries in Italy such as Giustini / Stagetti and Luisa Delle Piane.Read more
