Ronan Bouroullec
Ronan Bouroullec (1971-) is one of the most important contemporary French designers. He worked for many years alongside his brother Erwan (1976-), with whom he co-signed highly successful projects for brands such as Vitra, Hay Design, Magis, Ligne Roset, Flos, Mattiazzi, Cassina and Mutina. Born in Quimper, Brittany, Ronan Bouroullec found fame in the mid-1990s, first seeing one of his creations (the Soliflore vase, 1996) selected by the Centre Pompidou for inclusion in its permanent selection and then being launched internationally by Giulio Cappellini in 1997. Soon joined by his brother, with whom he founded a studio in Paris, Bouroullec was the most poetic and sensitive soul of the partnership, with a great attention to artisanal processes and freehand drawing. Starting in 2023, the two brothers also began to pursue individual projects such as the Céramique lamp designed by Ronan for Flos and in 2024 they decided to definitively separate their careers, closing the studio they had run together for almost thirty years. He is married to Inga Sempé, also an established designer.
