Bartoli Design
Bartoli Design is the design studio founded by Carlo Bartoli (1931-2020), a historic Italian designer awarded a Compasso d’Oro for his career in 2016. His career began in 1960 and was initially marked by an effective use of materials that were absolutely avant-garde at the time, such as the Gaia armchair produced by Arflex and made of fiberglass (1967, now part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York) or the 4875 chair for Kartell, the first chair in the world made entirely of polypropylene (1970, now exhibited in the collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris). A prolific designer with a balanced touch, highly skilled at creating products capable of capturing the tastes of a vast public, between the 1970s and 1990s Carlo Bartoli had the opportunity to collaborate with important companies such as Tisettanta, Arclinea, Bonaldo and Rossi di Albizzate (for which in 1995 he designed another of his most awarded products, the iconic Tube sofa). The long and fruitful collaboration with Segis earned him his first Compasso d’Oro in 2008, obtained for the R606 Uno chair. The Bartoli Design studio was founded in 2007, in which Carlo is supported by his children Anna and Paolo who will continue the activity together even after their father’s death in 2020. Today products signed by Bartoli Design appear in the catalogues of brands such as Laurameroni, Kristalia, Riva 1920, Lago, Penta, Tonelli, Fiam and many others.
