Sometimes futuristic and surprising, sometimes colorful and playful, always innovative and never banal: Magis chairs play a leading role in the realization of this company philosophy. One of the earliest chair was the brand’s first bestseller, Niels Jorgen Haugesen’s X-Line, as were some of the latest big hits, such as the Steelwood Chair by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, awarded in 2011 with the Compasso d’Oro , or the First chair by Stefano Giovannoni.
However, Magis’ first major international success was a stool, the Bombo model designed by Stefano Giovannoni from 1997, which became a true archetype of the modern stool and was immediately imitated by all competitors. The company had been founded twenty years before by Eugenio Perazza, soul and heart of the brand, and in addition to chairs, stools and tables, it has always included in its catalog a rich presence of accessories, such as ladders, clothes hangers, umbrella stands and other objects of daily use.
Many of the brand’s most famous creations, such as the spinning armchair Spun by Thomas Heatherwick and the plastic version of the Proust armchair by Alessandro Mendini, can also be used in outdoor environments. All the products of the Me Too line, among which the famous Puppy seat by Eero Aarnio stands out, with the characteristic shape of a little dog, were instead developed based on the scientific advice of experts in pedagogy, to stimulate child’s a really unique experience of use and learning.
