Flou was born in Meda in 1978 from the idea of the Knight of the Order of Merit for Labour Rosario Messina to make the culture of sleep an authentic personal mission. Rosario Messina was able to follow the changing needs and trends of housing by introducing innovative and modern products in the market. Among the first beds proposals of the company, there is a revolutionary product considered the founder of modern textile beds: the Nathalie, signed by the Architect Vico Magistretti. Very first bed with removable coverings, the Nathalie marked the beginning of a long series of important awards for the company.

Flou beds and sofas

In 1996, Flou designed the first unedited bed with storage base, reinforcing its leader position in the furnishings industry. Flou was the first company who invented the “Bed System”, which includes everything needed for a perfect rest: to the over 40 catalog beds models (double, single, sofa beds, transformable beds, covered in fabric, leather and saddle leather ) the company added mattresses, pillows, duvets, duvet covers and high quality linens.

The furnishings of the night area continues with wardrobes, bedside tables and furnishings complements finely designed in order to integrate each other harmoniously.

Flou extended the experience of comfort by introducing its own savoir-faire also in the living area with a collection of versatile modular sofas. Special attention was given to the mattresses, all produced internally.

Flou design

Thanks to the collaborations with renowned Designers and Architects, the company gave life to representative products of the Made in Italy design. Starting from the iconic Nathalie, followed by the Gentleman’s bed by Carlo Colombo, the Mercury bed by Rodolfo Dordoni, the Duetto and Sommier beds developed by the Research and Development Center of Flou and the Tadao, another masterpiece of Vico Magistretti.

Through the transformable beds, Flou responded to the modern need to make the best use of spaces by converting the living areas into bedrooms and vice versa.
