Cappellini furnitures

The adventure of Giulio Cappellini at the helm of the brand began in the ’70s, when he assumed the lead of the artisan furniture factory founded by his father. His strategy was to combine visionary contributions signed by innovative designers with a collection of useful and practical furniture, such as tables, chairs and bookcases, often designed by himself. The first big name involved in the project was the Japanese Shiro Kuramata, whose drawers Pyramid, Side 1 and Side 2 appear today in all the design museums.

The relationship with young designers from the Anglo-Saxon area was particularly fruitful, including Jasper Morrison with his Thinking Man’s Chair, Tom Dixon with the iconic S-Chair and the Australian Marc Newson, author of the Orgone side table of the Wooden Chair. The collaboration with many French designers has also reached excellent results, such as the modular Cloud library by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and the colorful Rainbow Chair by Patrick Norguet.
