The use of cold-molded polyurethane is a distinctive feature of B&B Italia’s production. Since its inception, the company has produced pieces considered today historical icons of the international design. In those years, come to life the sofa Le Bambole of Mario Bellini, Afra’s and Tobia Scarpa’s Coronado and the Up series of Gaetano Pesce. In the ‘80s, B&B Italia started the collaboration with Antonio Citterio, thanks to whom came to life the Diesis, Charles and Harry sofas.
Thereafter, the company enlarged the proposal for home environments, in particular wardrobes and bookcases, with the Pab, Flat.C and Backstage models. The product experimentation joined the expansion of production sites: Afra and Tobia Scarpa designed a new building for production, while a young Renzo Piano projected the company’s new headquarters, the prototype of Center Pompidou.
