Fuorisalone 2016 was the opportunity for Gufram to celebrate its 50 years of activity with a special set-up, over the line as the brand style. Among the years the maison rewrote the rules of the international design, eschewing stylistic canons too austere and strict, in favor of the radical design more playful and devoted to the experimentation.
“GUFRAM ON THE ROCKS. 50 Years of Design against the Tide”. The exhibition explores the most symbolic furniture icons, like Pratone or Bocca sofa, timeless classics of a design that rediscovers the pleasure of not taking itself too seriously, while fulfilling the function for which the object was conceived.
Two new projects will be presented for the first time in 2016 from Gufram. The first one designed by Alessandro Mendini, Poltrona, is a totemic and symbolic settee, a domestic “throne” that is enlivened by the contrast between the faux marble finish and the lightness of polyurethane.
On the other hand the sculpture by Kris Ruhs in “real-faux rusty iron” also plays with the contrast between the visual heaviness and the lightness of the material. A sculpture that express at the same time monolithic and softness.
